Rose geranium has a sweet and musky scent. The oil, which is made from the leaves of the rose geranium, is often used in place of rose oil. The oil also has very good rejuvenating properties that make it perfect for use in lotions and oils for dry and mature skins.

Things you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons cocoa butter
  • 2 tablespoons emulsifying wax
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • 1 tablespoon apricot oil
  • 1 tablespoon evening primrose oil
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil
  • 1 capsule each of vitamin A, E and D
  • 8 drops of essential oil of rose geranium
  • Double boiler
  • Glass jar with lid

Here’s the steps on how to make a night cream for dry skin:

  • Melt 2 tablespoons cocoa butter, 2 tablespoons emulsifying wax, and 1 tablespoon beeswax in a double boiler.
  • Beat into the melted wax 1 tablespoon apricot oil, 1 tablespoon evening primrose oil, 2 tablespoons sesame oil and 1 tablespoon almond oil. After the oils have been combined with the waxes, remove from heat.
  • Add the contents of the vitamin capsules. Beat until mixture is cool.
  • Add the essential oil of rose geranium. Continue beating the mixture until cold. Put in a glass jar with a lid.

Tips & Warnings:

  • Depending on what size glass jar you use, you may find that you need more than one. You can find your waxes and oils at your local health food or herbal store.
  • As with all herbal creams or lotions, test a small patch of skin before using.
